Growing up on the streets of Auckland, I faced hardships that shaped my path. Grew up without my father and with a tumultuous relationship with my mother, I found solace with my loving nana, who cared for me amidst the chaos. Yet, my life took a dark turn through boys' homes and experiences of abuse that scarred my youth.
Survival meant stealing, a habit that became an addiction, providing fleeting relief but deepening my struggles. Juvenile homes and prison became familiar places, overshadowing my adult life. Seeking belonging, I found solace in gangs, where I sought a family connection absent in my life.
Now, over five decades later, I'm reclaiming my life. My art has become my refuge, a healing process that brings me peace and joy. As I navigate trauma and mental health challenges, I'm committed to being there for my wife, children, and grandchildren. My journey is far from over, but I'm determined to forge a new path forward—one guided by healing, creativity, and a newfound sense of purpose.
Stay with me as I continue to write this next chapter of my life.
