Flare Ōtautahi Street Art Festival
The Korowai Project by artist ANGEE Lukic began with a mural at Te Pae Christchurch, marking Part 1 of the journey. Inspired by Conscious TheTrend’s song A Call to Return, this work reflects the deep realization that we are not defined by the lives we live. It captures the struggle and transformation of shedding emotional burdens, moving forward with clarity, and embracing the return to one's true self.
I had the incredible opportunity to work on this mural alongside many talented artists, with Mark Sender and Ebony right beside me. Mark, known for designing and building tattoo machines, brought his unique artistic vision to the space. Ebony, a skilled tattoo artist and mural designer, added her extravagant touch. Their creativity, side by side with mine, made for an unforgettable week!

Being a part of the Flare Street Art Festival was an absolutely surreal experience. The energy of contributing to such a massive project, surrounded by incredible talent, left me in awe. The scale of it all—collaborating with artists from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their own unique vision to life—was both humbling and inspiring. It felt like stepping into something larger than myself, where creativity and passion filled the streets. The whole experience was a dream come true!

Finishing my mural, The Korowai Project Part 1, felt both exciting and relieving. This piece, inspired by my brother Conscious The Trend’s song A Call to Return, marks the start of my own journey to reconnect with who I truly am. Through self-doubt and struggle, I focused and moved forward, finding clarity in the process. This mural is a reflection of that deep call we all feel—to return to our true selves.
