Tattoo Aftercare
At Brother Tip Tattoo & Art we want your tattoo to heal beautifully.
Please follow the aftercare below carefully to protect your new piece and get the best healed result possible.
First 24 Hours
- Leave your wrap/bandage on for the time advised by your artist
- Wash your hands before touching your tattoo
- Gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and mild fragrance free soap
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel or let air dry
- Apply a very thin layer of recommended aftercare cream, or natural coconut oil
Do not over moisturise. Your tattoo needs to breathe.
The Healing Process
Your tattoo may:
- Feel warm or tender
- Slightly swell or redden
- Flake, peel or become itchy during healing
This is completely normal. Do not scratch, pick or peel the tattoo.
For The Next 2-4 Weeks
Avoid:
- Swimming pools, oceans, spas or baths
- Direct sunlight or tanning
- Heavy sweating or gym friction for the first few days
- Tight clothing rubbing on the tattoo
- Letting pets touch the tattoo
Wear clean, loose clothing where possible.
Moisturising
Apply a small amount of aftercare cream 2–3 times daily once the tattoo starts to dry out.
Too much cream can cause irritation or slow healing.
Important Info
- Every person heals differently
- Touch ups may be needed once fully healed
- If you notice unusual swelling, extreme redness, pus or signs of infection, seek medical advice immediately
